Water Resistance Explained
What the water resistance ratings on Arvell watches mean in real use.
Water resistance ratings describe laboratory test pressure, not recommended diving depth. What they mean in practice:
| Rating | Marked | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|
| 3 ATM (30 m) | - | Rain, hand washing. No swimming. |
| 5 ATM (50 m) | earlier references (archive) | Showering, brief swimming. No diving boards, no water sports. |
| 10 ATM (100 m) | Corvin 43 mm, Regent Automatic | Swimming and snorkelling. Not for scuba diving. |
Rules that matter more than the number
- Never operate crown or pushers under water.
- Chronograph pushers (Corvin 43 mm): do not use while swimming.
- Have gaskets checked whenever the case is opened (battery change, service).
- Water resistance degrades over years - retest during service.
