Troubleshooting
The watch stopped, the date will not change, fog under the crystal - what to check before contacting service.
The watch stopped
- Quartz (Corvin 43 mm, earlier references): battery is likely empty - see Battery and Service. Change promptly; empty cells can leak.
- Automatic: power reserve ran out. Wind ~20 crown turns, set time, wear it. If it stops while worn daily, book a service.
Running fast or slow
- Sudden fast running (minutes/day) on Regent Automatic or the Regent chronographs: probably magnetised - see Automatic Care. Demagnetising is a 2-minute watchmaker fix.
- Gradual drift over years: normal wear, regulation during service corrects it.
Date will not change / changes at noon
Hands are 12 hours off - set the time forward 12 hours. Never correct the date between 21:00 and 03:00 (all calibres).
Chronograph hands off zero (Corvin 43 mm)
Normal after a battery change - follow the zero-position correction in Chronograph Reset.
Fog under the crystal
Brief fogging on cold mornings that clears within minutes can be harmless; persistent moisture is not. Stop wearing it and contact service - gaskets need replacement before corrosion starts.
Bezel feels loose or gritty (the sportier references)
Rinse with fresh water after sea use and rotate the bezel while rinsing. If grit persists, service can clean and re-lubricate the bezel assembly.
